Prince William Plans to Join COP30 Climate Summit in South America

Prince William is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in Brazil during November, as confirmed by royal officials.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a reception preceding the environmental conference, which is scheduled to take place in the Amazonian city of Belem.

The royal pair were in attendance at the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a climate summit preparatory event co-hosted by the UK government.

Climate Leadership Commitment

King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be taking place in South America preceding the UN meeting.

Royal sources have described William's involvement at the forthcoming conference as assuming an crucial position in "environmental negotiations".

Previous Activities

The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the state Bentley, were greeted guests including environmentalists, scientists, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.

This participation included speaking alongside French leader Macron of France and other world leaders at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco during the current year.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The UN meeting will coincide with the prince's own climate innovation prizes, which will finish in the Brazilian city the day before he attends the climate conference on 6 November.

Last week the William characterized the prize competitors as "heroes of our time".

Monarch's Environmental Record

King Charles has been a influential participant at past COP meetings, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"I have spent a substantial portion of my life trying to raise awareness about the survival risks challenging our world over climate change, climate change and biodiversity loss," the monarch informed delegates.
